  为了做作业读的，断断续续到今天才把中英文全看了一遍。在我的认知里，这更像是一本“教科书”而不是“课外书”。（好可怕，翻了一下今年的阅读记录，我好像一直在读“教科书”...😅 不得不说，欧文好喜欢写，也真的很会写这种读起来透凉气的故事。倒不是说内容有多恐怖，欧文最擅长的是把简单的东西渲染得妖异飘忽。我常常在他的文字里体会到一种无常的悲哀。 贴几段我为《睡谷的传说》写的作业吧。赶工赶出来的东西不禁看，但确实是六月份的我看完这个故事的真实感受。 "On a hot June night, Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow might not be the best tale to read, but reading this book is sure to bring you a little bit of coolness." "As for the theme, I will use one word “battle” for it. It does not only mean a physical battle, like the battle between Ichabod and the Headless Horseman; but also refers to an internal battle, such as making decisions or facing fear. Throughout the whole story, Brom and Ichabod “battle” for the heart of Katrina; Ichabod “battles” with the idea of the stories told by the Dutch wives and wonders whether they are true or not. The latter also sets me thinking: are they real – dreams, apparitions, specters, all these in Sleepy Hollow? Since we have an unreliable narrator, we really have to second-guess the story. It seems like facts are overrated in Sleepy Hollow and people only care about what is interesting."
