  I had the honour of meeting Madame Fu Ying once during my 9 years of studying and working in London. It was in early 2009 when I was attending the Chinese New Year Reception hosted by the Chinese Embassy to the UK. Madame Fu, who was the then Ambassador, stood outside the entrance to the reception hall on the second floor of the Embassy, greeting and shaking hands with each and every guest upon their arrival. And that was the moment when I had my close encounter with her, whose grace and graciousness left me with an immense impression. That evening was one of the most memorable moments of my time in London. Reading this book was like my second time interacting with her, although not in person, but in much more depth. This book, consisted primarily of Madame Fu Ying's articles and speeches over the years, offers a close-up shot of her thoughts and reflections on a number of geopolitical issues including the changing global order and China's evolving role in it, China's relations with the US, Russia, and its neighbors in Asia, etc. In this quality book that lives up to the general public's high opinion of her as a charming and eloquent Chinese diplomat, Madame Fu not only shares her frontline insights into prevailing geopolitics that is more than ever shaping the world we are living in, but also unravels profound concepts and proposals that China has brought to the world stage, such as the "Belt and Road Initiative", "a community with a shared future for mankind", etc. As more and more Chinese people, particularly the younger generations, need to communicate and interact with the outside world as part of their work and life, the wisdom and pragmaticism that's pervasive in this book will be found of great value! Strongly recommend!!!

  几个观点，在不同场合下的反复阐述。 用王小波的话说，这些观点主要叙述世界阳的一面。阳面当然很好，但全阳，读起来难免单调，吸引力不够，而且也不是世界的全貌。当然，不阳的那面不好在访谈时公开说，可以理解。 作为英语学习材料，本书相对浅显。咳，是相对。感觉要学中国特色的政治英语，还是得看央视新闻国际版，或是China Daily。 总体来说这书及格没问题，但没有特殊需要的话，不怎么推荐，因为我读来兴致不高。当然纯属个人意见，仅供参考。

  如果想学英语的话，而又刚好对政治 中国的国际形势感兴趣的话，推荐看看一下这本书。 首先，传达的观点可能比较简单，更多的可以学英语。从国情出发，回顾历史，做好当下，规划未来。结合中国外交史上一些比较重要的事件，以演讲的的形式展现，所以这本书笔者演讲稿的一个集合(演讲的形式就是易懂，也确实蛮友好的)。 其次，表达一下个人观点。我觉得不管是国家，还是个人，开放都是一个最好的选择(当然要有一定的输入)，这也是唯一能让人生有点“意义”的方式，对吧?

  确实，如果不深入一个国家的历史和文化，是很难对其有深度的理解和认同的。 我们长期以来特别缺乏的就是，把自己讲给世界听，用别人可以理解的视角。这次疫情更是暴露了媒体的落后。
